Smarter cities are about making citizens' lives easier, faster, smoother, and greener - but how do metropoles such as Vienna actually go about it? Most importantly, how does Vienna manage to give its inhabitants a sense of belonging and participation in the process of building a future-proof city?
Explore Vienna's beloved second district and take a closer look at how the city practices smart urbanism, from social housing to green neighbourhood oases and accessible public transport.
This walk's route will kick off in the city centre and hit attractions such as the Prater park, the Magdas Hotel, and the WU Campus, among others. The walk will end at one of the festival locations in the second district, where you will be able to network with fellow participants.
Meeting point: The ViennaUP Homebase at Karlsplatz.
Please strive to arrive 15 minutes before the walk starts in order to make sure the group is ready to go by 17:30. Additionally, make sure to have a public transport ticket for this walk.
No-one to walk with and worried about it? Fear not, everyone is welcomed and encouraged to join, especially if you find yourself alone, with two hours to spare. The tour is set up to be lively and interactive, and participants usually end up engaging - with each other, and with friendly Viennese strangers.
